40x60 Barndominium Floor Plans
A 40x60 footprint is 2,400 sq ft, large enough for a full living area plus an attached shop or garage bay, or a spacious living-only layout. It's the size most buyers search for, and the one where the shop-versus-living split changes the budget most.
- Living space

Decisions that make or break this plan
Decide the shop split before anything else
Every square foot you move from living to shop skips flooring, cabinetry, and most interior finish. The split moves total cost more than any other choice at this size.
Split the bedrooms
Primary suite on one side, secondary bedrooms elsewhere, all away from the shop wall. Noise, fumes, and vibration transfer is a common regret.
Map mechanical before the slab
Wet walls, duct runs, radiant zones, and panel location all need to be fixed before the pour.
Where to get a plan drawn
IronField doesn't draw plans. They come from your kit supplier, a local draftsperson, your builder, or a plan provider.

Questions
Is a 40x60 barndominium big enough for a shop?
Yes. A 40x60 fits either a spacious living-only layout or three bedrooms plus a small attached shop bay.
